Wafi Shafique Menhaz Khan (Chairman)

Mr. Wafi Shafique Menhaz Khan is the Chairman of Sunlife Insurance Company Ltd. At present he is Managing Director & CEO of Green Delta Securities Limited, one of the few renowned brokerage houses of Bangladesh. He is also the Deputy Managing Director of Green Delta Insurance and is currently heading Retail & SME. Prior to join Green Delta, he was the Vice-President and Head of Non-Funded Business at the City Bank Limited. Mr. Khan has extensive experience in the banking industry and set benchmarks for others to pursue. He started his glorious career from ANZ Grindlays Bank and gradually earned diversified experience while working with BRAC Bank Limited, American Express Bank Ltd. and The City Bank Ltd. He was directly involved with the launching of numerous retail, card and loan products. Throughout his career, he has been assessed as a result oriented & strong team player, activator and developer. He has taken up several successful training and workshops held locally and globally on career management & leadership. He has attended various international conferences held in USA, UK, Dubai, Singapore, Thailand, India and China. This year Mr. Khan received “LFB Leadership Excellence Award 2021” in capital market category organized by The Leaders Forum BD.

Ms Prawma Tapashi Khan FCCA (Independent Director)

Prawma Khan, an FCCA-qualified finance professional, has over 15 years of experience across local and multinational organizations. Currently serving as the Country Manager for ACCA Bangladesh, she has led major initiatives to strengthen financial literacy, regulatory compliance, and governance standards in the country. Prawma’s role in building strategic partnerships with government agencies, academic institutions, and businesses has been instrumental in advancing professional accountancy education.

Her prior experience spans key positions in accounting and finance across various sectors, demonstrating her expertise in risk management, financial reporting, and sustainability. With a strong focus on policy development and corporate governance, Prawma is known for her ability to drive innovation and build resilient financial ecosystems. Her unique blend of local insights and global exposure positions her as a valuable asset to any organization seeking strategic growth and governance excellence.

Syed Aliul Ahbab, FCCA (Board Director)

Syed Aliul Ahbab has been serving as a Nominee Director of Sun Life Insurance Company Ltd. since November 2023.

A Fellow of the Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA, UK), Ahbab brings extensive expertise in financial reporting, financial planning and budgeting, statutory and internal audits, corporate finance, and the development of internal control systems. His proficiency spans International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), local tax and VAT regulations, and the Companies Act of Bangladesh.

Ahbab’s professional experience spans diverse industries and service sectors, including insurance, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, textiles and garments, travel and tourism, power, real estate, retail, securities and stock exchanges, and technology.

Md. Oliullah Khan, FCS (Board Director)

Md Oliullah Khan FCS is a seasoned professional with over 17 years of extensive experience in Corporate Affairs, Legal, Board, Investment, Share, and External Stakeholder management. His career has been marked by an unwavering commitment to excellence, adaptability, and a strong dedication to corporate governance and compliance.

He currently serves as the Company Secretary and Senior Executive Vice President (SEVP) of Green Delta Insurance PLC, one of Bangladesh’s leading insurance companies. In this role, he oversees board affairs, manages corporate governance, and ensures regulatory compliance. Additionally, he plays a strategic role in managing the company’s corporate and legal functions while maintaining strong relationships with key external stakeholders.

Mr. Khan’s journey at Green Delta Insurance began in May 2006, where he has held several leadership roles, including Assistant Vice President, FAVP, VP, EVP and Deputy Company Secretary. His responsibilities encompass drafting board minutes, preparing AGM and EGM agendas, managing Publicly Significant Information reports, and coordinating share transfers and dividend distributions. He maintains close collaboration with regulatory bodies like IDRA, BSEC, DSE, and CSE.

Mr. Khan holds an MBA in Finance from the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), an LLB from Prime University, and a B.Sc. in Computer Science from National University. He is a Fellow Chartered Secretary from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) and holds a certification from The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), UK.

Known for his leadership, team-building skills, and the ability to handle complex corporate affairs, Mr. Khan excels in managing projects under pressure while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. His communication skills enable him to engage effectively at all levels, including board presentations.

Kazi Ahmed Sabihuzzaman (Board Director)

Kazi Ahmed Sabihuzzaman has been a Nominee Director of Sun Life Insurance Company Ltd. since November 2023 and serves as the Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary at Green Delta Capital Limited, a leading investment bank in Bangladesh. Starting his career as Manager of Financial Reporting and Tax in the Capital Market division, he has over 15 years of experience in financial management, corporate finance, treasury operations, and capital markets.

Mr. Zaman specializes in profit and loss management, budgeting, compliance, process optimization, and team development. He also contributes to licensing, regulatory affairs, capital market events, and human capital development. With expertise in equity origination, IPOs, and advisory services, he has held leadership roles across merchant banking sectors for more than eight years.

He holds a CA (Knowledge Level) certification from ICAB and a first-class Master’s degree in Accounting.

Rubaiyat Ahmed (Board Director)

Rubaiyat Ahmed has been serving Sun Life Insurance Company PLC. as a Nominee Director since November 2023. Mr. Rubaiyat Ahmed, an experienced HR practitioner, boasts 18 years of extensive experience spearheading transformative initiatives within organizations. His expertise lies in crafting and implementing innovative human resource frameworks and strategies, particularly in retail, automobile, and conglomerates. Known for his business-driven mindset, Mr. Ahmed excels in HR transformation, fostering cultural change, and influencing organizational behavior.

Mr. Rubaiyat earned his Higher Secondary School Certificate from Notre Dame College, undergraduate degree from the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh, and a post-graduate degree from Kingston University, UK. His professional career includes notable tenures at financial organization, retail and automobiles, showcasing his diverse experience.

Thanvir Iasdani (Board Director)

Thanvir Iasdani brings over 18 years of distinguished experience in Corporate Affairs and External Stakeholder Management, having worked with leading multinational corporations such as Grameenphone, Banglalink, Accenture, and SSD Tech. Currently serving as the Head of Legal and Regulatory Affairs in a re-known company, he specializes in regulatory compliance and corporate governance in complex and highly regulated industries.

An engineering graduate (BSc) from North South University, Thanvir has been involved in significant national-level projects, including Pipilika, the first and complete Bengali search engine and School Digitalization project of Bangladesh Government, demonstrating his ability to drive impactful initiatives with broad societal reach. He has also participated in multiple international advanced technology fellowship programs focused on Mobility Management and Cellular Systems.

His career is enriched with the capability of adapting to diverse organizational cultures and environments, a skill cultivated through his educational background, extensive professional experience, and a foundation built on honesty and commitment.

Mohammad Shohrab Hossain (Board Director)

Mohammad Shohrab Hossain has been a Nominee Director of Sun Life Insurance Company Ltd. since November 2023 and is the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at Green Delta Capital Limited. He has led landmark deals, including Bangladesh’s first overseas acquisition and cross-border M&A in Malaysia and the country’s first Moody’s-certified Sustainability Bond.

With over 16 years of experience in finance and strategy, Mr. Shohrab specializes in structured finance, debt syndication, M&A advisory, renewable energy project financing, and equity transactions. His leadership has strengthened GDCL’s position as a top investment bank in Bangladesh and expanded its global partnerships with financial institutions and investors.

He began his career at A.K Khan Telecom and later worked in Banglalink’s treasury team, where he contributed to Bangladesh’s only foreign currency bond issuance. He holds an MBA in Finance from AIUB and has completed leadership training at IBA, DU.
